Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has appointed Eng. Joselynne Rwakakooko as the Acting Managing Director, effective immediately. She replaces Paul Mwesigwa, who has been serving in the position.
Prior to her appointment, Eng. Rwakakooko was the Chief Commercial and Operations Officer at UEDCL, a role in which she played a key part in the company’s day-to-day technical and commercial operations.
UEDCL, the concessionaire responsible for electricity distribution across much of Uganda, described the appointment as part of efforts to ensure seamless leadership continuity and sustained service delivery to customers.
In a brief statement, the company congratulated Eng. Rwakakooko on her elevation and expressed confidence in her ability to steer the organisation during this transitional period, given her extensive experience in the power sector.
Eng. Rwakakooko brings a strong background in engineering, commercial operations, and power utility management. She is expected to focus on improving power reliability, reducing losses, and enhancing customer service as UEDCL continues with its modernisation and expansion programmes. No official reason has been given for Paul Mwesigwa’s departure from the role.
Further details regarding the full appointment process and any plans for a substantive Managing Director are expected to be communicated by the UEDCL Board in due course.
