Kibuli Secondary School has, over the years, represented Uganda at the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games with the largest contingent, a record it has maintained for the past decade.
That trend continues this year, with the sports powerhouse once again qualifying six teams for the 23rd edition of the FEASSA Games, scheduled to take place in Morogoro, Tanzania, from August 12 to 22.
The Makindye Division-based school will represent Uganda in boys' badminton, boys' and girls' table tennis, boys' and girls' lawn tennis, and girls' handball.
Kibuli SS will also head into the tournament as the defending champions in boys' table tennis, boys' badminton, and boys' lawn tennis.
"We have prepared our teams very well and, as always, the school administration has given us full support. We believe the training before and after the national championships has put us in a strong position to retain our titles and win even more medals," said sports teacher Acram Kayemba.
Uganda has traditionally dominated the racket sports at the FEASSA Games. Since these disciplines were introduced into the regional schools championships, Uganda has consistently won gold medals in table tennis and badminton, while Kenya and the steadily improving Rwanda have shared honours with Uganda in lawn tennis.

The games, which will be held about 1,600 kilometres from Kampala in the Tanzanian city of Morogoro, will feature a Ugandan contingent of 2,200 athletes.
Uganda heads into the competition as the overall defending champion. The tournament brings together schools from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan.
Uganda secured its fifth consecutive overall FEASSA title last year in Kakamega, Kenya. However, the victory was briefly overshadowed after FEASSA General Secretary James Ngugi mistakenly announced Kenya as the overall champions. Following an appeal by Uganda, the error was corrected and the championship trophy was officially awarded to Uganda.
