Steven Spielberg’s latest sci-fi epic, Disclosure Day, premiered in Paris on June 2 — and critics are calling it his best work in two decades. The film asks a simple question: If you found out we weren’t alone, would that frighten you?

Emily Blunt stars as Dana Marsh, a Kansas City TV meteorologist who, during a live broadcast, appears to be overtaken by an extraterrestrial force. The incident ignites a media firestorm and a government cover‑up. Josh O’Connor plays a true believer who has spent years convinced that alien life exists — and has been suppressed. Together, they become targets of a global scramble for the truth.

The cast includes Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, and Henry Lloyd‑Hughes.

The film marks the 30th collaboration between Spielberg and composer John Williams, now 94. The screenplay was written by David Koepp (Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds). Spielberg reportedly kept the script under lock and key, refusing to share it with cast members until they were hired.

Early reviews praise Blunt’s performance as potentially career‑defining. One critic described a second‑act scene — “a single phone call” — as awards show gold.

Disclosure Day arrives at a moment of unprecedented mainstream interest in UFOs (now called UAPs), with congressional hearings and declassified government documents turning the subject into serious national security talk. Spielberg, who has always had a gift for tapping into cultural anxieties, seems to have timed his return to space perfectly.

The film opens in IMAX across the U.S. on June 12. In an era of sequels and cinematic universes, it stands as a rare original, non‑franchise blockbuster — and a reminder of what movies can still feel like.
