Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Chairperson and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has appointed Tingey County MP Hon. Fadhil Twala as the new General Secretary of the organisation, replacing Kasambya County MP Hon. David Kabanda, who has held the position for the last three years.
The changes were announced on Monday morning through Gen. Muhoozi's X account (formerly Twitter) as part of a wider reshuffle aimed at strengthening the organisation's leadership structures.
Twala Promises Unity and Stronger Structures
Hon. Twala, who has also been serving as the PLU Coordinator for the Sebei Sub-region, thanked Gen. Muhoozi for the appointment and pledged to strengthen the organisation.
"I am humbled by this great opportunity bestowed upon me by my Chairman to take up this new role as General Secretary of the Patriotic League of Uganda," Twala said.
He pledged to serve according to the organisation's expectations, promote unity, and strengthen PLU structures from top to bottom.

Kabanda Exits Office but Remains in Leadership
Announcing the changes, Gen. Muhoozi praised outgoing General Secretary Hon. David Kabanda for his contribution to the organisation.
"The new General Secretary of PLU is Hon. Fadhil Twala. I will work closely with him to achieve our objectives. I thank Hon. Kabanda for his three years of excellent service. He set the standard high for the position," Muhoozi stated.
Kabanda has, however, been retained as a member of the PLU Central Committee.
In his response, Kabanda thanked the PLU leadership for entrusting him with the pioneer role.
"I sincerely thank my Chairman for the trust and confidence placed in me by appointing me as the pioneer General Secretary of PLU. It has been a great honour to serve. To Hon. Fadhil Twala, I congratulate you upon your appointment and wish you success," he said.
