Police in Rukiga District have arrested a radio presenter for allegedly being in possession of a toy pistol under unclear circumstances. The suspect, Daglas Natukunda (27), a presenter at Rukiga FM and resident of Nyangorogoro Village, Kitojo Parish in Rwamucucu Sub-county, was arrested on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at around 1:30 p.m.
According to police, Natukunda was found with the toy pistol tucked in his waist at Kyerero Village, Kandago Parish, Bukinda Sub-county. He was arrested by the District Police Commander, SP Moses Karakire Musinguzi, and his team, following an intelligence tip-off. Police said the arrest followed a recent community policing meeting held at Nyaikunama football pitch, where residents complained about a man moving around the area armed with what appeared to be a pistol. Security operatives acted on the information, leading to Natukunda's arrest.
Speaking about the incident, Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate commended community members for their vigilance and cooperation with security agencies.
"We commend the public for sharing timely information and urge them to remain security conscious in the prevention and fight against crime," ASP Maate said.
The motive behind Natukunda's possession of the toy pistol remains unclear, and police have opened inquiries into the matter.
