A devastating fire broke out yesterday morning at All Saints Preparatory School in Nyakasharu Town Council, Rubirizi District, destroying one of the school’s dormitories. The blaze, which started at around 6:00 a.m., gutted the dormitory, reducing beds, mattresses, suitcases, books, and other scholastic materials to ashes. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.

Local residents attempted to extinguish the fire using water from nearby tanks, but their efforts proved futile. The Police Fire Brigade from Bushenyi Central Police Station later arrived and successfully contained the fire before it could spread to other buildings within the school compound.
SP Apollo Tayebwa, the Acting Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said investigations into the exact cause were underway.
“We pledge to keep the public updated as more information becomes available. In the meantime, we urge all institutions to take fire safety precautions seriously,” SP Tayebwa said.

Police have since emphasized the importance of adhering to fire safety practices, particularly in schools and public institutions, as fire outbreaks continue to rise across the region.
