The Uganda Cubs, the men's national U-17 team, lost 3-2 to Paraguay in their final international friendly before the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, which runs from November 3-27.
The match, played last evening at the Al Arabi Sports and Cultural Club in Dubai where the team is based, saw the Ugandan side put up a strong fight before narrowly losing.
Uganda Team that started against Paraguay
This was Uganda's third and final preparatory game during their 10-day training camp in Dubai. They previously played to a 1-1 draw with Venezuela and suffered a 2-1 loss to Panama—both teams also bound for the World Cup. Head Coach Brian Ssenyondo will now refine his strategy after observing his team's performances in these three matches, which have undoubtedly presented him with a new set of tactical challenges to address.
Paraguay team
The Cubs now travel to Qatar for the global tournament, where they will make history as the first Ugandan football team to ever play in a FIFA World Cup at any level. They will have to embrace the underdog role as they prepare to face their group stage opponents.
