Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - Ugandan police officer Shafick Nasasira clinched gold in the men’s 60–63.5kg boxing category at the 5th East African Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (EAPCCO) Games, after a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Ethiopia’s Beniyam Abebe in the finals held in Addis Ababa.
Nasasira’s victory marked a proud moment for Uganda, as he overcame the home crowd and a skilled opponent to stand atop the podium, showcasing both skill and resilience.
His compatriot, Raymond Mugisha, also put up a strong performance, earning a bronze medal after a tightly contested bout in the same weight class.

Uganda is participating in the 5th edition of the EAPCCO Games with a 15-man contingent competing in boxing and taekwondo. The team is led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abu Kalule, and aims to foster regional unity, discipline, and cooperation among police forces through sport.

The EAPCCO Games bring together police officers from across the East African region to promote camaraderie, physical fitness, and the spirit of peacekeeping through competitive sports.

Uganda’s performances so far have been commended as a reflection of the country's commitment to professionalism and excellence in both policing and sports.
