Bushenyi - Thousands of Christians in Bushenyi and surrounding areas commemorated Palm Sunday, marking the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. At All Saints Church Greater in Bushenyi Town, worshippers carried palm branches, waving them in the air while singing hymns such as "Hosanna" and "All Glory to Jesus, the Son of God." Palm Sunday is celebrated by Christians to commemorate Jesus Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

According to Scripture, on this day, Jesus rode into the city on a donkey, and people welcomed Him by laying palm branches and clothes along the road—symbolizing their recognition of Him as the Messiah.

The celebration marks the beginning of Holy Week, the final week of Lent. It serves as a reminder of Jesus’ journey toward His crucifixion and resurrection. It is a significant event in the Christian calendar, reflecting themes of humility, worship, and the fulfillment of prophecy.

Rev. John Makuru Namanya, Sub-Dean of the West Ankole Diocese, who presided over the service, said, “Jesus was joyfully received in Jerusalem during the Passover festival, with many people, including His disciples, laying palm branches and clothes on the donkey He rode into the city.”
He encouraged Christians to, “Allow Jesus to be your Savior and be submissive to God.”

Rev. Didas Natweta, Archdeacon of All Saints Church Greater Archdeaconry, emphasized the importance of Palm Sunday. He urged believers to understand the true purpose of Jesus Christ’s coming.

“This is a significant moment in the life of a Christian. Use this season of resurrection as a source of peace and spiritual cleansing,” Rev. Natweta said.
He further encouraged Christians to, “Embrace forgiveness and show kindness to one another.”
