BEIRUT  - Iran is reportedly preparing to launch an imminent ballistic missile attack on Israel, according to a senior U.S. administration official. The official, speaking anonymously, warned of "severe consequences" if the attack occurs and confirmed that the U.S. is supporting Israel’s defensive measures.

The warning follows heightened tensions in the region, with Israel escalating its military operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Israel urged residents of border areas to evacuate, signaling potential deeper incursions into Lebanon. Hezbollah, backed by Iran, has launched numerous rocket attacks on Israel, leading to clashes along the northern border.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have conducted targeted raids in southern Lebanon, aimed at Hezbollah positions, while Hezbollah denies that Israeli troops have entered Lebanese territory. Both sides have exchanged fire, resulting in civilian casualties and widespread displacement.

As the situation escalates, the U.S. is closely monitoring Iran’s movements and bolstering Israel’s defense capabilities. The Israeli government has vowed to continue military operations against Hezbollah until the threat is neutralized, while Hezbollah has promised continued rocket fire into Israel.
