The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) successfully foiled a cattle theft in the early hours of today in Akilok South Village, Okuti Parish, Orom East Sub-County, Chua County, Kitgum District. The operation, conducted by troops from the 75 Infantry Battalion under the 505 Infantry Brigade, highlights the army's ongoing commitment to safeguarding local communities.

At around 2:00 a.m., UPDF forces intercepted two armed Jie warriors suspected of stealing two cows from a resident, Mr. Otema Bosco. During the confrontation, one suspect was neutralized, and the stolen cattle were recovered and returned to their rightful owner.

Speaking about the operation, Colonel Patrick Opira, Commander of the 505 Infantry Brigade, commended the swift action of the troops. “The UPDF is unwavering in its commitment to protecting lives and property. We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities,” he stated.
This successful operation follows a series of UPDF interventions in the region. Earlier this month, the army recovered 98 goats and 13 cows stolen by raiders, ensuring all livestock was returned to their rightful owners. These efforts underscore the UPDF’s dedication to combating livestock theft and maintaining peace in northern Uganda.

Col. Opira issued a stern warning to cattle raiders, emphasizing that those involved would face justice under Ugandan law. He also encouraged local communities to collaborate with security forces to enhance stability and prosperity in the region.

The UPDF's proactive measures continue to bring hope and security to residents in the affected areas, reaffirming the army’s pivotal role in promoting peace and protecting livelihoods.
