Police in the Kigezi sub-region are investigating three separate murder cases reported during the Christmas period in Rubanda and Kabale districts, in which three men were brutally killed by unknown assailants.
In Rubanda District, police are hunting for suspects who allegedly stabbed to death a 22-year-old man identified as Arineitwe Valence, a resident of Gwara Village, Karukara Ward, Hamurwa Town Council.

According to police, the incident occurred on December 25, 2025, at around 7:30pm, near Kikadde’s residence in Hamurwa Cell.
“It is alleged that the deceased was chased and violently assaulted by unknown suspects along Hamurwa Main Road before collapsing at Kiiza Aron’s bar, where he died instantly,” said ASP Maate Elly, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson.

Police say the incident was reported by Maximiano Atuheire, a teacher and businessman, who heard unusual noise from the road while serving customers at his bar and went out to check.
“The crime scene was visited, examined, and documented. Statements were recorded from relevant witnesses, and exhibits were recovered to aid investigations,” Maate added.

The body, which had a deep cut wound, was conveyed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination. Police say inquiries are ongoing, and the suspects are still on the run.

In a separate incident in Kabale Municipality, police are investigating the murder of Mandela Martin, a Mukiga male adult, who was attacked and cut on the head by unknown assailants in the early hours of December 26, 2025.

The incident occurred at around 2:52am in Igabiro Cell, Mwanjari Ward, Southern Division.

According to police, the deceased had earlier been at a bar with his brother, Onorinawe Janvier (34), a teacher, who later left him behind. As Mandela was returning home, he was attacked near his residence.
“Neighbours heard an alarm and found the victim lying on the ground, bleeding heavily. He was rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, where he later died,” ASP Maate said.

No suspect was identified at the scene, as none was seen during the attack. The body remains at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary pending a postmortem examination as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, police in Kabale District are also probing the murder of Vincent Rwomushana (54), a resident of Kanyante Village, Kibuga Sub-county, who was allegedly assaulted and cut by unknown persons.

Police report that on December 25, 2025, at around 11:00pm, Rwomushana was returning home from a drinking spree at Hamuhokye Trading Centre when he was attacked and left unconscious with serious head injuries. “He was found bleeding profusely by good Samaritans and rushed to Rushoroza Health Centre IV, where he was pronounced dead on December 26, 2025, at around 5:45am,” Maate said.

The matter was reported to police by local leaders, and a homicide team visited and processed the scene. Statements were recorded, and a postmortem examination has already been conducted.

ASP Maate Elly has appealed to the public to cooperate with police.
“We call upon anyone with information that may help police identify the suspects behind these murders to volunteer it. All perpetrators will be brought to book,” he said.

Police say investigations into all three incidents are still ongoing.
