The FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup CAF qualifiers have entered the final round, where the four teams that will represent Africa at the Poland tournament in September will be determined. In what could be described as a Valentine’s gift to Ugandan women’s football fans from the Zambian city, Mary Kantono scored a decisive goal in the 64th minute, sealing a historic step into the final round. Meanwhile, Kenya’s U20 Women’s National Team were knocked out by Tanzania after losing 3-1 on penalties in Dar es Salaam. Tanzania had secured a 1-0 win to level the tie 1-1 on aggregate before prevailing in the shootout. Ghana also recorded a stunning 1-0 victory over South Africa in Johannesburg to advance with a 3-2 aggregate win. With all third-round matches completed on Sunday, attention now shifts to the final round, where the remaining eight teams will battle for the four available slots to Poland.

The Queen Cranes, coached by Sheryl Botes, will face Ghana, while neighbours Tanzania take on Cameroon. Nigeria, perennial contenders in the competition, will seek to maintain their consistent World Cup qualification record when they face Malawi, as Ivory Coast take on Benin.

The first-leg matches will be played between May 1–3, with the return legs scheduled for May 8–10. Uganda will play the first leg away in Accra before hosting the decisive return leg in Kampala.
