Ugandan security agencies have successfully dismantled a sophisticated international criminal network involved in drug trafficking and large-scale document fraud, authorities announced.
In a major operation, security forces arrested key suspect Mugisha Keith King along with several Nigerian associates. The arrests took place in Kampala as part of a coordinated effort to break up the cross-border syndicate.

According to security sources, the network was engaged in the trafficking of narcotics and the production and use of forged official documents. Mugisha Keith King is accused of holding multiple fake passports and frequently impersonating high-ranking military officers and presidential officials to facilitate criminal activities.

During the operation, security teams recovered a significant cache of illegal items, including:

  • Firearms and ammunition
  • Forged passports and other official documents
  • Military gear and equipment

The arrests and seizures are being hailed as a significant blow to organised crime in the region. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the network’s operations, including possible links to other countries.

A senior security official described the operation as “a major success in the fight against transnational crime,” adding that the syndicate posed a serious threat to national security due to the use of forged documents to impersonate state officials.

The suspects are expected to be charged with multiple offences, including drug trafficking, forgery, illegal possession of firearms, and impersonation of public officials.
Further details are expected to be released as investigations continue.
