Ssetuba Derrick was arrested over 8m fraud allegations

Police at Kabalagala are holding Ssetuba Derrick on allegations of obtaining money by false pretenses from Namara Omuhereza, amounting to UGX 8 million. According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, Ssetuba was lawfully arrested and is currently detained at Kabalagala Police Station. He dismissed circulating social media claims suggesting the suspect was abducted.
“Contrary to reports on social media that the suspect was abducted, he was lawfully arrested,” said Owoyesigyire. Following his arrest, two more alleged victims have come forward, claiming they were also defrauded by Ssetuba. Police say the allegations will be thoroughly investigated, and the case file will be forwarded to the Office of the Resident State Attorney (RSA) for perusal and legal advice. Police have promised to release further details as investigations progress.
