Secondary school teams from across the country arrived today at Bukedea Comprehensive School, the host of the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Ball Games I, which officially kick off on Tuesday.
The teams were warmly received, registered, and ushered into their respective boys’ and girls’ games villages to rest ahead of tomorrow's action.

Jonas Gumisiriza, the Resident Director of Bukedea Comprehensive School and the hosting official, said some teams from distant regions began arriving as early as Saturday. They were welcomed and assured of proper hosting, including quality playing fields, accommodation, and meals.
“We have prepared thoroughly, and we will treat all our visitors well in terms of feeding and accommodation, in addition to providing standard playing fields. All is set, and apart from being good hosts, we are also aiming to win some trophies in the championship,” Gumisiriza said.

Geoffrey Langa, a USSSA Executive Committee member and games official, commended the hosts for their preparedness, noting that the reception was excellent and accommodation for both boys and girls met the expected standards.
“We are happy that the hosts have done a great job, and we are confident this will be a successful championship. We are also pleased that schools have embraced the USSSA objective of talent identification and development, and have turned up as they qualified,” Langa said.

The USSSA Ball Games I include sports disciplines such as girls’ football, basketball, table tennis, tennis, badminton, hockey, rugby 15s, and the newly added U16 categories in handball, volleyball, netball, and basketball.
