Nyamiko Health Centre III in Nyakabirizi Division, Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality, has received a significant boost following the donation of hospital equipment worth 24 million shillings.
The newly acquired equipment, which includes hospital beds and wheelchairs, was purchased using funds from both local revenue and the central government. This comes as a major relief to the health facility, which has been operating since 2018 without these essential resources.
During the handover ceremony, Bushenyi District Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Williams Donanto Katsigazi emphasized the importance of poverty eradication, urging residents to focus on improving their livelihoods. He highlighted that poverty alleviation remains a key objective of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government and President Yoweri Museveni.
Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality Mayor Richard Byaruhanga attributed the town's successful development projects to the strong collaboration between the technical and political leadership. He pointed out that proper management of local finances has been instrumental in achieving progress in various sectors.
Municipal Town Clerk, Silvelio Mukobi Byarufu, revealed that the municipality contributed 17 million shillings towards the procurement of the equipment, while the central government provided 7 million shillings. He further noted that over the past three years, the municipality has prioritized education, health, local revenue management, and infrastructure development to improve service delivery.
Nyakabirizi Division Chairman, Nyansio Biryomusho, cautioned health workers against complacency, urging them to remain committed to their duties. He discouraged unnecessary transfers to other areas that may tolerate laxity, emphasizing the need for dedication in serving the community.
The donation marks a significant step in improving healthcare services at Nyamiko Health Centre III, ensuring better medical support for residents in the area.
