Kibuli Secondary School continued its regional sports reign at the Federation of East Africa School Sports Association (FEASSA) Games, delivering an impressive haul of gold medals at the regional championship that climaxed in Morogoro, Tanzania.
Dubbed "The Only School," Kibuli once again emerged as Uganda’s top-performing institution at the games, collecting four gold medals and one silver. Only St. Mary's Kitende and Seroma Christian High School came close to matching Kibuli’s medal tally.
Kibuli’s gold sweep was driven by dominant performances in racket sports. The school claimed titles in both the Boys' and Girls' Table Tennis, Boys' Badminton, and Boys' Lawn Tennis. Their sole silver medal came from a rapidly improving Girls' Lawn Tennis team, which reached the regional finals for the first time before falling to Kenya.
The Boys' Lawn Tennis final proved to be a thrilling comeback story, with Kibuli rallying from behind over a two-day match to defeat a formidable Kenyan side and secure gold.
This performance builds on Kibuli’s historic track record. In 2022, the school matched its racket sports success by adding a boys' football title to its four gold medals in table tennis, badminton, and lawn tennis, bringing its total to five gold medals.
Kibuli’s stellar outing was highlighted not only by team silverware but also by individual excellence. Two of the 18 Ugandan athletes named Most Valuable Players (MVPs) hailed from Kibuli: International School Sport Federation (ISF) star Pavin Nangonzi was voted MVP in Girls' Table Tennis, while Latif Ssendyowa earned MVP honors in Boys' Lawn Tennis following unmatched performances.
"We are happy that we have maintained our high-class performance, collected gold, and contributed significantly to Team Uganda’s overall FEASSA performance," said Kibuli sports official Acram Kayemba. "This year’s outing was tough and challenging because every competing team was strong, but we managed to overcome them. We return home satisfied and will immediately embark on preparations for the next championship, because our goal is to keep winning."
Kibuli SS Head Teacher, Hajji Ibrahim Ssemakadde, commended the returning delegation and pledged continued institutional support for sports development.
Kibuli remains a sports powerhouse both nationally and regionally. Having previously tasted global success with an ISF Lawn Tennis bronze medal, and with its Girls' Handball and Netball programs rapidly rising, the school's athletic future looks brighter than ever.
