Bushenyi - Police in Bushenyi District are investigating the murder of Innocent Muhanguzi, 42, also known by his nickname “Body Guard”, who was found dead in the early hours of April 7, 2025, along Kikuubo Street, Ishaka Division in Bushenyi–Ishaka Municipality.
Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said that five suspects have been linked to the murder. These include four local security guards—identified only by their first names, Edison and Hillary, among others—and a businessman, Innocent Mwikirize, 42, also known as "Master." While Mwikirize has been arrested, the four security guards are still on the run.
According to preliminary investigations, at around 2:00 AM on April 7, the security guards allegedly apprehended Muhanguzi while he was standing near Duncan’s shop on Kikuubo Street. They reportedly dragged him about 70 meters to Edison’s shop, where they began beating him on suspicion of attempting a break-in.
A key witness, Magezi David, a gym attendant at Power Rangers Gym, filmed part of the incident using his phone before being chased away by the guards when they noticed they were being recorded.
Following the incident, Edison (the shop owner) and Mwikirize were arrested to aid police in the ongoing investigation. Muhanguzi’s body was later discovered with multiple visible injuries in front of Edison’s shop. It was taken to Kampala International University Teaching Hospital in Ishaka for a post-mortem examination.
Police continue to search for the remaining suspects as investigations progress.
