The former Member of Parliament for Rubanda West County in the 10th Parliament, Engineer Denis Sabiiti Bamwoya, has passed away at his residence in Entebbe near State House.
The news was confirmed by his family. According to his nephew, Franckline Tumuhumuza Bonde, Eng. Sabiiti died on Monday evening at approximately 8:00 PM.
He added that the former legislator had been battling cancer for some time and had previously been hospitalized for treatment. He was discharged in January 2025 after showing signs of improvement.

Tumuhumuza, who has been closely monitoring his uncle’s health, explained that although Sabiiti had been attending routine medical checkups and appeared to be in stable condition, his sudden passing came as a shock to the family. He expressed concern that the effects of ongoing medication might have contributed to the unexpected turn of events.
Eng. Sabiiti Denis Bamwoya served as MP for Rubanda West County from 2016 to 2021 under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government. During his term, he was known for his professional background in engineering and played a key role in advocating for infrastructure development in his constituency and the wider Kigezi sub-region.

As a legislator, Sabiiti served on several parliamentary committees and was recognized for his calm demeanor and dedication to public service. He also held positions in the Ministry of Water and Environment before joining active politics.  News of his death has led to an outpouring of grief from colleagues, constituents, and leaders across the country.
