Mukono
The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Ball Games I commence on today, with several school teams already having arrived at the host venues, Seroma Christian High School and Namilyango College.
Kibuli Secondary School remains the most decorated side in these competitions, having consistently won gold medals, especially in racket games.
The sports giants will be in Mukono to defend titles on five fronts, as they continue to make their mark in both Uganda and East Africa.
The Kampala-based side will be out to defend their crowns in lawn tennis (boys and girls), table tennis (boys and girls), and badminton (boys).
Table tennis stars Jemimah Nakawala (R) and Judith Nangonzi Parvin
Boasting young talent across all five disciplines—many of whom have represented Uganda in international age-category competitions—Kibuli remains the team to beat in these events.
Their only area of resurgence remains basketball (boys and girls), where their past glory is well documented. However, over the last five years, they have struggled to return to the podium.
With the acquisition of experienced youth basketball coach Henry Malinga, whose structured development approach and leadership bring renewed hope, the former champions could stage a strong comeback on the court.

Top secondary schools from all 19 zones across the country arrived at Seroma Christian School in Mukono on Wednesday ahead of the games’ commencement on Thursday.
Seroma will co-host the games with Namilyango College. According to the arrangements, the boys will be accommodated at Namilyango, while the girls will stay at Seroma.
Participants will compete in girls’ football, basketball, hockey, table tennis, badminton, lawn tennis, rugby 15s, and other under-age category games such as netball, volleyball, and football.
