When officers are well-supported, they are better equipped to serve the community with dedication and professionalism

In a bid to strengthen law enforcement and community relations, the Chief Political Commissar (CPC) of the Uganda Police Force, Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) Hadijah Namutebi Bamunoba, has called on officers in the Kiira and Bukedi South police regions to prioritize professionalism and adopt a people-centered approach through active community policing. During a familiarization and needs assessment tour in the Kiira Region, SCP Bamunoba highlighted the critical importance of officer welfare and the well-being of their families, stating that these are top priorities for the force. She emphasized that the health and morale of police officers are essential to maintaining a motivated and effective police force.
"Ensuring the welfare of our officers and their families is not just a matter of duty but a foundation for effective policing," SCP Bamunoba said. "When officers are well-supported, they are better equipped to serve the community with dedication and professionalism."

SCP Bamunoba also directed regional management to prioritize the Subcounty policing model, which is designed to bring police services closer to the people at the grassroots level. This model is seen as a key strategy in fostering trust and cooperation between the police and the communities they serve.
In addition, she called for intensified efforts in the fight against corruption within the force, stressing that integrity is crucial to maintaining public confidence in law enforcement.

The CPC was accompanied on the tour by Commissioner Paul Nkore, who is in charge of Political Education; Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jane Nakityo, head of the Formal Education Department; and SSP Marion Kutuusa, Staff Officer for Administration in the CPC Uganda Police Force.
This initiative is part of the Uganda Police Force's broader mandate to create a crime-free society through community-driven policing efforts. By reinforcing the importance of professionalism and community engagement, the Uganda Police Force aims to build stronger, safer communities in the Kiira and Bukedi South regions.
