Bushenyi – The Bushenyi District Grade One Magistrate's Court has granted bail to Pathy Mbabazi, the National Unity Platform's (NUP) district registrar. Mbabazi was granted bail after being arrested on allegations of computer misuse and hate speech against President Yoweri Museveni and his son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who is also the Chief of Defence Forces of the Ugandan army. She was arrested on March 3, 2025, in Ishaka Town, Bushenyi-Ishaka, and initially remanded to Nyamushekyera Government Prison in Bushenyi District for two weeks.

Her bail terms include a cash bail of UGX 100,000, with each of her sureties required to pay UGX 5 million. The court, presided over by Emmanuel Niyokwizera, the Bushenyi Grade One Magistrate, granted bail, citing that the accused had no prior criminal record.

"After careful consideration of submissions from both the defense and prosecution, I grant a cash bail of UGX 100,000, with each surety required to pay UGX 5 million," Niyokwizera stated.

Mbabazi is scheduled to reappear in court on April 16, 2025, and the bail money will be refunded upon the conclusion of the case. Earlier, Joshua Tumukunde, the lead defense lawyer from Mugisha Arnold & Company Advocates, informed the court that the accused was a first-time offender and a single mother.

Meanwhile, Godfrey Bainomugisha, the NUP District Chairman for Greater Bushenyi, welcomed the court’s decision, stating that it was proof that justice still prevails. He added that minor issues should not provoke the President and his son.
