Police are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of Isa Atigo, popularly known as Mavado, a bodyguard to singer Jose Chameleone and a bouncer at Happy Boyz Bar in Kawempe, who reportedly died following a violent altercation linked to a family land dispute.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the incident occurred on Thursday night at around 11 pm in Kawempe following a disagreement between family members over land ownership and proceeds from previous land sales.
Sources allege that the dispute involved property left behind by their late father and accusations that portions of the land had previously been sold without consultation among relatives.
It is alleged that tensions escalated after family members reportedly learned of plans to sell another portion of land, leading to a confrontation that later turned violent.
During the altercation, Mavado was reportedly stabbed in the chest with a screwdriver. He was rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

By Friday, police had not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident or confirmed arrests connected to the killing.
Sources within the community claim that disagreements over family property had existed for some time following the death of the brothers' father.
Residents described the incident as shocking, saying the dispute had escalated unexpectedly despite previous attempts by relatives to resolve disagreements.
The deceased was known within entertainment circles for his association with musician Jose Chameleone and for working as a security operative in Kampala's nightlife scene.
Meanwhile, family members have commenced burial arrangements in Luwero District as police continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Authorities are expected to provide further details after completing preliminary inquiries.
