Bushenyi
The Bushenyi Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Sanyu Phionah, today convened a critical meeting with district drivers and heads of departments, demanding accountability for the consistent breakdown of government vehicles. The focus of the meeting was the "Use and Care for District Vehicles.”
CAO Phionah directly tasked the District and Mechanical Engineers, along with the drivers, “to give reasons for the regular breakdown of district vehicles.” The drivers quickly placed the blame on systemic neglect, citing "lack of comprehensive assessment of vehicles' conditions and partial repairs,” which they argued only "cause more mechanical problems by affecting other parts of the vehicle.”

In response, the CAO issued a firm directive, ordering the District and Mechanical Engineers "to urgently carry out a competitive assessment especially to the vehicles that are already parked due to poor mechanical conditions in order not to jeopardize service delivery.”
Adding to the call for discipline, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Bushenyi, Emmy Ngabirano, “urged drivers to desist from using Gov’t vehicles to private work.” Simultaneously, Chairman Jafari Basajabalaba called on staff “to handle carefully the vehicles they are responsible for to avoid financial loses by government.”
