A former operative with the Flying Squad Unit has been arraigned in court on charges of demanding money with menaces after he allegedly fabricated a murder-for-hire story and then attempted to extort millions of shillings from a Ugandan diplomat to retract the false claims.
Kizito Ronald was presented before the Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court on Monday by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (AntiGraft_SH), in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
According to the prosecution, in February 2026 at Kira Police Station, Kizito falsely reported that he had been hired by Mr. Mugimba Robert — a Ugandan diplomat — to kill his wife, Mrs. Mugimba.

However, in March 2026, Kizito allegedly confessed that the entire story was fabricated. He then demanded UGX 4 million from Mr. Mugimba in exchange for retracting the false report and withdrawing the police case. He was arrested while allegedly receiving the extortion money.
Kizito denied the charges and was remanded to prison until April 30, 2026, when he is expected to return to court.
The case has drawn attention due to the accused’s background as a former Flying Squad operative and the sensitive nature of the allegations involving a diplomat and a fabricated conspiracy to commit murder.
Police and anti-corruption authorities described the scheme as a calculated attempt to blackmail the victim using false criminal allegations. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
