Western Uganda will also be represented at the global meet by Johnson Ayesiga, a middle-distance runner who claimed victory in the men’s 1500m race.
“I wasn’t feeling well, but I pushed myself to come and run alongside other athletes. Competing is an essential part of preparation for a major event, and I’m confident the challenge I faced here will help me at the World University Games,” said Akampa.
