Ndola, Zambia

Uganda's national women's football team, the Crested Cranes, will be looking to keep their Olympic qualification hopes alive when they take on Zambia's Copper Queens in the second leg of their CAF qualifiers today in Ndola.

The crucial encounter, which will be played at the 49,800-seater Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola's Copperbelt Province, kicks off at 7:00pm East African Time (EAT) and will determine which team advances to the next round of the qualifiers, which have attracted more than 20 of Africa's top women's football nations.

Team captain Shadia Nankya

The Crested Cranes carry a slender 2-1 aggregate advantage after recovering from an early scare to beat Zambia by the same scoreline at Hamz Stadium last week. Agnes Nabukenya and Sylvia Kabene scored Uganda's goals in that first-leg encounter.

"We know the importance of this game. We believe in ourselves and are ready to give our best for the country. We call upon all Ugandans to keep supporting us," captain Shadia Nankya said.

Assistant head coach Collins Ahumuza appreciated the support Ugandans back home have given the team and emphasised the players' determination to represent the country successfully.

"We appreciate the support from Ugandans back home. We ask them to continue believing in this team as we represent our country. We shall go into this match with determination and do everything possible to make Uganda proud," Ahumuza said.

The winner on aggregate will advance to the third round, where they will face the winner of the tie between Mauritius and Ghana.
