The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has petitioned the Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association) over Kenya's self declaration as champions of the FEASSA games that climaxed on Friday in Kakamega Kenya. Uganda had won the overall title after collecting 15 gold medals to Kenya's 13, but Kenya FEASSA officials claimed the title and announced Kenya as winner, basing on the addition of Primary and Special Needs Education (SNE) medals, which is not a method used to determine overall winners since 2018 when the primary games were incepted in 2018.

From the petition letter signed by USSSA CEO Chris Mugisha, Uganda complains of unfair decision to name number two the champions, also coming after a hostile environment to Uganda athletes and officials during the competition. FEASSA president Justus Mugisha has instructed that this matter be investigated and has instituted a five-man team to investigate the matter and give a report within 72 hours.

Uganda collected 15 gold medals in secondary section to Kenya's 13 while Rwanda gor 2 and Tanzania, Burundi and visitors Ivory Cost got no medals. But in a unique tally format that has not been used before, all competitions of SNE and primary were added together for the first in the championship, to give Kenya the overall with 21 gold, with Uganda coming second on 16 and Tanzania in 3rd on 3 while Rwanda got 2.
