NAPAK — On November 11, 2024, police in Napak District conducted a major operation that resulted in the destruction of over 10 acres of marijuana in Alekilek village, Iriiri Subcounty. The operation, which began at 10:00 a.m., was later supported by the Mt. Moroto regional team.

According to police, growers abandoned the area upon seeing law enforcement, which is believed to indicate their involvement in the illegal cultivation and distribution of marijuana to surrounding communities. Authorities say the operation underscores their commitment to combating drug-related activities and protecting local communities from the negative impacts of marijuana distribution.

Further investigations are underway to identify the individuals behind the cultivation. Police warned that they will continue to monitor the region for similar activities, aiming to curb the illegal drug trade in the area.
