Iganga – Police in Iganga District have recovered a vehicle suspected of transporting stolen cattle after a dramatic chase along the Iganga-Bugweri Highway in the early hours of today.
According to police reports, at around 3:00 AM, enforcement officers from the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), while on routine patrol, suspected that a Toyota Wish with registration number UBD 244D was ferrying smuggled goods. When the officers signaled the driver to stop, the occupants fled at high speed, prompting a chase that extended into Namutumba District. In a bid to stop the vehicle, the officers deflated one of its tires, forcing the suspects to abandon the car and flee on foot. Upon inspection, authorities discovered that the silver Toyota Wish was loaded with cattle, raising suspicions of livestock theft.
