Kampala — Anti-corruption agencies have this afternoon arraigned Wampero Samuel, an accountant at Nakawa Vocational Institute, before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of forgery and uttering false documents. The operation was jointly carried out by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the Criminal Investigations Directorate, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
According to prosecution, Wampero is accused of forging several academic credentials, including Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) certificates purportedly issued by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), along with a diploma and bachelor’s transcripts from Makerere University Business School and Kyambogo University respectively.
The court heard that Wampero presented the falsified documents to the Education Service Commission in 2004 in a bid to fraudulently secure employment under the Ministry of Education and Sports. He has been remanded to prison until April 22, 2025, as investigations continue.
The State House Anti-Corruption Unit continues to warn public servants against engaging in fraudulent activities, stating that all those found culpable will be brought to justice.
