A Kampala-based businessman, Male Nicholus, has been arraigned before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of forgery and uttering false documents. He has been remanded to prison until November 17, 2025. Prosecution alleges that on September 18, 2025, Male, with intent to defraud or deceive, knowingly uttered a forged document dated August 15, 2025, addressed to the Minister of Works and Transport and purportedly signed by the President of Uganda.

Male approached the Director of Nation Oil Distributors Limited, presenting himself as an employee of the Office of the Prime Minister

According to the charge sheet, the accused presented the forged letter to the Ministry of Works and Transport, the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, and the offices of Nation Oil Distributors Limited in Ndeba.

The letter falsely claimed that the President had directed the Minister of Works and Transport to renew the contract of Nation Oil Distributors Limited to continue managing MV Kalangala for an additional 15 years.

It is further alleged that Male had earlier approached the Director of Nation Oil Distributors Limited, presenting himself as an employee of the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and claiming to have connections with senior government officials who could influence the renewal of the MV Kalangala management contract. State prosecution informed the court that investigations into the matter are still ongoing. Male will return to court on November 17 for further mention of the case.
