Kanungu Magistrates' Court has convicted and sentenced Kamugisha William, the Secretary of Central Ward, Kambuga PDM SACCO, for obtaining money by false pretenses.
Kamugisha was arraigned earlier today by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
According to investigations, Kamugisha had been soliciting money from hundreds of Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiaries, falsely claiming it was a requirement to access funds under the government program. However, officials clarified that no such payments were required for eligibility.
Upon pleading guilty, Kamugisha was convicted and sentenced to imprisonment. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any similar fraudulent activities to ensure the proper implementation of government programs.
