The Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala has remanded Nwoya District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Janepher Nantume Egunyu to Luzira Maximum Security Prison over allegations of abuse of office.
Nantume was arrested on Monday by police officers in Nwoya District following an ongoing investigation by the Inspectorate of Government (IG).
She was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Peter Fred Lochomin on Tuesday, where she was formally charged before being remanded.
According to Farouk Kayondo, Deputy Spokesperson of the Inspectorate of Government, Nantume will remain on remand until May 4, 2026, when she is expected to reappear in court.
She was remanded together with Fred Kalisa, a farmer from Got Okwara Village in Lungulu Sub-county, who is also linked to the case.
Although details of the charges were still limited by press time, the case is reportedly connected to the alleged illegal operation of an animal market in Nwoya District.
The Inspectorate of Government has in recent months intensified investigations into abuse of office and corruption cases involving public officials across the country.
