Police in Bushenyi District have launched an investigation into the death of Kato Edison, a 42-year-old plumber and resident of Central Cell, Bushenyi Town.
Preliminary reports indicate that Edison checked into the Volcano Bar & Lodge alone on the evening of October 27, 2025. He was found dead in his room the following morning. The Greater Bushenyi Sub-region Acting Police Spokesperson, Mr. Apollo Tayebwa, confirmed the incident.
"Police responded promptly to the scene and standard procedures were followed. The body has been conveyed to the KIU Teaching Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem to establish the precise cause of death," Mr. Tayebwa stated.
He added that while initial suspicions point to the man's known history of alcohol addiction, the investigation remains active to determine the actual cause.
The news has shocked Edison's friends, colleagues, and the wider community. Many took to social media to express their grief and share fond memories.
"Edison was not just a plumber; he was a friend to everyone, always ready to help," a colleague wrote on Facebook. Another friend posted, "Bushenyi has lost a cheerful and hardworking man. You will be missed, Kato."
Obed, a close friend, said, "We will always remember him for his skilled work, especially in plumbing, and the jokes he used to cheer us up."
Tributes continued to pour in throughout Tuesday, with many describing Edison as a kind-hearted man who made friends easily.
Mr. Tayebwa said police will provide an update once the postmortem results are available.
