The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Western Branch has donated vocational training equipment worth over Shs10 million to Kyeizooba Technical and Business Institute as part of its annual corporate social responsibility programme. While handing over the sewing machines to the institute's management on Friday, David Rwamatungi Mwesigwa, the NSSF Western Region Manager, said the entity remains committed to supporting skills development among young Ugandans.
"This donation is part of our corporate social responsibility. Every year, we give back to communities, and this time we chose institutions that directly contribute to skilling Ugandans," Mwesigwa said.
"We urge the management to keep this equipment safe so that it serves its intended purpose of empowering learners."
Mwesigwa revealed that this year the Fund supported two institutions—Tukore School of Disability in Ruti, Mbarara City, and Kyeizooba Technical and Business Institute—with the combined donations amounting to more than Shs10 million.
Julian Lutaro, the NSSF Ishaka Branch Manager, encouraged students to take full advantage of the new equipment. "Please use these machines responsibly and study your courses with passion," Lutaro advised.
"Skilling is the surest way for young people to overcome the unemployment challenge."
The institute's principal, Robert Muhereza, hailed NSSF for the support, saying the sewing machines will greatly enhance hands-on learning for students pursuing tailoring and fashion design.
"These machines have come at the right time. Our tailoring and design students have been struggling due to limited equipment," Muhereza said.
"NSSF has bridged a critical gap, and we are grateful."
The donation is expected to boost practical training and improve the quality of vocational education at the institute.
