Bushenyi –
A total of 220 police constables have completed a week-long refresher course at Bushenyi Main Stadium, aimed at preparing officers for the forthcoming 2026 General Elections. The training, which began on Monday, focused on public order management, physical drills, and handling civilians in sensitive situations.

Regional Police Commander SP Godfrey Achiria, while presiding over the closing ceremony, said the program is part of the force's mandate to enhance officers' readiness for election-related challenges.
"Our officers must be physically fit, mentally prepared, and professionally trained to handle any situation that may arise during the campaigns and elections," Achiria said.

He noted that the recent NRM party primaries exposed gaps in crowd control and response to election incidents, which the refresher training sought to address.

Resident District Commissioner for Bushenyi, Emmy Ngabirano, commended the police for equipping officers with knowledge and skills in public order management, teamwork, capacity building, and community policing. He reminded officers of their key mandate to protect lives and property, urging them to execute their duties with professionalism as the country heads into elections.

Ngabirano also appealed to the public to cooperate with the police in maintaining peace, warning that crossing the line may result in trouble.
