The Uganda national men's U17 team coach, Layrea Kingston, has said that the TotalEnergies Men's U17 CECAFA Region Qualifiers semifinal against hosts Ethiopia is the game everyone is looking forward to, and that his boys are set for the big day.

Kingston said this after taking his boys through a Friday (today) morning training session at Addis Ababa Main Stadium, which he said was well responded to with intensity following yesterday's low-intensity evening session after a morning flight from Dire Dawa to Addis.
“We came early to acclimatise to the weather because Dire Dawa and Addis Ababa are different. On arrival, we had a low-intensity training yesterday, but today we had a longer one, where the beginning was slow but later the intensity came in. So far, so good — the kids are looking very sharp. We continue tomorrow with our match preparation, and I am sure we should be ready on Sunday. It’s a big game for all of us, a game that is going to change the future for all of us, so we are going to approach it with all the seriousness,” Kingston said.

Defending champions Uganda play Ethiopia, while Tanzania take on Kenya in the other semifinal on Sunday, November 30, at Abebe Bikila Stadium, before the final set for December 2 at the same stadium.
The best three teams — the finalists and the winner of the third-place match — will qualify to represent CECAFA at the AFCON finals in Morocco next year, competing for the 10 slots available for Africa at the FIFA Men’s U17 World Cup in Qatar in 2026.
