In 2024, Elly Jabeth Ojilong became the youngest referee to have officiated a Uganda Premier League match at just 17 years, as a fourth official in the BUL FC 1-0 win over Kitara FC.
Tomorrow (Sunday), as he takes the centre referee role in the FUFA Big League match between Solitilo Bright Stars vs Kiyinda Boys at Maroons grounds Ruzira, Ojilong will not only be observing positive progress in his football officiating career, but also celebrating his success in academics.

The former Amus College student, Ojilong scored 17 points in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics (BCM), where he got an A in Mathematics, B in Chemistry and C in Biology, with a D1 in Computer Studies (ICT) and C5 in General Paper in the 2025 results released yesterday (Friday).
"I did not expect a C in Biology, I expected better than that but I will take it. I am well certain and give glory to God for the chance of passing above all, so I am happy for everyone who has been part of my academic struggle," Ojilong said.

Ojilong celebrates academic excellence that came alongside an excellent football officiating/refereeing career, whose assignments would come during school time and he had to seek leave from the calls so as to concentrate in the last days to the exams.
"I officiated in the national secondary schools games but in third term I wrote a request to the appointments desk at FUFA to allow me to concentrate for my exams and I am happy the permission was granted," he said.

He looks at becoming a surgeon as a long-time career dream.
"Since my childhood I have been working hard to see that I go to university and become a doctor. I am aiming to do medicine and surgery."

Ojilong's academic journey has been a success as he scored aggregate 9 at PLE and 20 at UCE at Ngora High School where Amus College picked him for a study bursary at high school that he has excelled in.

He has officiated at all levels of secondary school games from the national to international competitions and regional and continental football tournaments and in the national league, and attributes all this to his parents, Ngora High School and Patrick Isiagi of Amus College.
