Sheema — The State House Anti-Corruption Unit, in conjunction with the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, this morning arraigned Kigundu John Bosco, treasurer of the Kyeihara Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCO in Kasaana Sub-county, Sheema District, before the Sheema Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of obtaining money by false pretence.
According to the prosecution, Kigundu is accused of soliciting millions of shillings from hundreds of PDM beneficiaries under the false claim that payment was a mandatory requirement to access benefits from the government’s PDM program—a claim that is entirely false.
As treasurer of the SACCO, Kigundu allegedly used his position to exploit unsuspecting beneficiaries, demanding fees that were not sanctioned by the program or government. The court has remanded the accused until April 17, 2025, as investigations continue.
This case is part of a wider crackdown on corruption and abuse of government programs meant to empower communities economically under the Parish Development Model.
