The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Ankole Zone technical committee has rescheduled the U16 girls’ football final between Boni Consilii and Sheema Girls. The two teams reached the zonal final in Rubaare last week, and Boni Consilii beat Sheema Girls 2-0. However, the result was nullified after both teams petitioned against each other for using ineligible players.

The final came after the Bweranyangi Girls team boycotted their semifinal tie against Sheema Girls, accusing them of fielding ineligible players — claims they said they had evidence for but were not ready to formalize in a petition due to the required fee. Sheema Girls progressed to the final to meet Boni Consilii, who had triumphed over Kibingo Girls in the other semifinal.
Before the final, Boni Consilii petitioned their opponents, and as a result, four Sheema Girls players were disqualified. The final was then played, and Boni Consilii won 2-0. However, the result was later nullified by the zonal committee following post-match disagreements. Committee chairman Egidio Mucunguzi announced the decision during the closing ceremony. Boni Consilii had played the nullified final under protest, accusing Sheema Girls of insisting on fielding other ineligible players even after the four had been disqualified.
Having sat and made a decision today, Mucunguzi, through the zone’s social media platform, announced the reschedule. “The USSSA Ankole Zone U16 Girls’ football final for 2025 will be played on Sunday, 6th July 2025, at 3 PM at the Mbarara High School playground,” Mucunguzi posted.
Boni Consilii have won this title for the past three years and are the reigning national U16 champions — a position that qualified them for the first-ever CAF GIFT Championship held in Tanzania in January, where they finished fourth out of eight teams.
