The Chairperson of LCIII, Nakisunga Sub-County in Mukono District, Mr. Sekikubo Mubarak, has been arraigned before the Mukono Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of obtaining money by false pretence and conspiracy to defraud. Mr. Sekikubo was jointly charged by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, working together with the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. He has been remanded until November 4, 2025, pending further hearing.

Mr. Mugerwa Ronald Saaku
Prosecution alleges that between January and June 2025, in Mukono Town, Sekikubo conspired with Mr. Mugerwa Ronald Saaku, the Probation and Welfare Officer of Lugazi Municipality, and Dr. Wataba Saadi, who is still at large, to defraud a job applicant, Dr. Mukisa George William, of UGX 38 million.
The accused reportedly claimed that the money would be used to “facilitate” members of the Mukono District Service Commission to help Dr. Mukisa secure employment as a Medical Officer in the district — a claim investigators later found to be false.
Authorities revealed that preliminary findings point to a wider scam involving several officials linked to the Mukono District Service Commission, who are suspected of extorting money from job seekers in exchange for government positions.
The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has since urged victims of similar fraud to report such cases to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
