Following the conclusion of the 2026 general elections, the Ntungamo District Chairperson, Samuel Mucunguzi, has called upon residents to transition from a season of “endless politicking” to one of intensive household production.

The Chairperson made these remarks on Monday while conducting a monitoring tour of government health facilities across the district. This was his first official field assignment since resuming office after a successful re-election bid.

Addressing the community, Mucunguzi emphasized that the time for political division is over, urging a collective shift toward wealth creation. “I am back in office after my election leave. Elections ended; let us conclude the election period and start working,” Muchunguzi stated. “Wherever everybody is, we should stop speaking about elections and start speaking about work. As Ntungamo District, we want household income in our homes, period.”

The Chairperson further cautioned against post-election victimization, insisting that service delivery must remain impartial regardless of how individuals voted. “This saying of ‘so-and-so voted for me or not’ should stop. Let us embark on teamwork and hard work. Let’s all go and work so that we have household income such that our children can go back to school and we get food security. Go and grow coffee, look after fish—that is development,” he added.

In addition to his call for economic productivity, Muchunguzi used the visits to assess the state of healthcare service delivery. He encouraged health workers to remain steadfast and committed to their duties, noting that the district leadership is prioritizing the improvement of both livelihoods and social services in this new term.

By refocusing the district on agriculture and enterprise, the Chairperson hopes to ensure that the political milestones of the 2026 elections are followed by tangible economic progress at the household level.

Sam Muchunguzi as an incumbent won his immediate opponent John Kabeho in the district LC V Chairman Race for Ntungamo, who is however threatening to go to court to challenge his win alleging of vote rigging and bribery.
