Police at Old Kampala are investigating a murder incident in which a boda boda rider was allegedly killed following a disagreement linked to football rivalry in Bakuli, Kampala Central Division.
According to police, the incident occurred on May 24, 2026, at about 6:30 p.m. in Bakuli, Kampala District.
The deceased was identified as Denis, 34, a boda boda rider and resident of Bakuli.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Denis, who was reportedly an Arsenal F.C. supporter, got into a misunderstanding with a suspect identified only as Musiramu, who is alleged to be a supporter of Manchester United F.C..
Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala said the disagreement reportedly escalated into a physical altercation during which the suspect allegedly struck Denis on the head. “The victim collapsed and died instantly,” police said in a statement.
Authorities said efforts to apprehend the suspect are currently underway.
The deceased’s body was taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.
