The Ghanaian tactician, whose first assignment is to guide the team through the CECAFA U17 AFCON Zonal Qualifiers scheduled for November 15 to December 2 in Ethiopia, expressed confidence that Uganda has the talent capable of securing qualification to the TotalEnergies U17 AFCON finals and eventually emulating the Uganda Cubs currently in Qatar for the World Cup.
Kingston, who is assisted by Hamza Lutalo, Stephen Bengo, and Yasin Mugabe, noted that by the time the tournament kicks off in the Horn of Africa, the team will be well-prepared for the challenge.
A total of 31 players from various secondary schools and junior clubs across the country have been summoned for the training camp, from which the final squad for the qualifiers will be named.
Uganda has been placed in Group B alongside Tanzania, Djibouti, Sudan, and Burundi, while hosts Ethiopia will face Somalia, Kenya, South Sudan, and Rwanda in Group A.
