KAMPALA - Socialite Don Nasser, also known as Nasser Nduhukire, has been remanded to Luzira Prison after facing charges of aggravated child trafficking and defilement. Nduhukire, who was on the run for months, was arrested in Kenya and extradited to Uganda. At Buganda Road Court, Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi informed him of the charges. Nduhukire, a self-described businessman, faces charges under the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act and the Penal Code Act, alongside 19-year-old Promise Ateete, personal assistant to Ntungamo Municipality legislator Yona Musinguzi. If convicted, Nduhukire may face the death penalty or life imprisonment.

Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi read out the charges to Nasser Nduhukire and Promise Ateete but didn't allow them to plead, citing lack of jurisdiction over capital offenses like child trafficking. "Trafficking in children carries a maximum death sentence upon conviction, which only the High Court can try," Kayizzi explained. He advised the accused, through their lawyer Roberts Friday Kagoro, to apply for bail at the High Court. State Attorney Ivan Kyazze and Chief State Attorney Joseph Kyomuhendo informed the court that investigations are ongoing. Kyomuhendo requested an adjournment for police to complete investigations, prompting Kayizzi to postpone the case to October 8, 2024. Nduhukire and Ateete will remain in custody until then. Kagoro requested a copy of the chargesheet for review, but Kyomuhendo deemed it premature, promising the documents would be provided at trial.

Allegations
Prosecution alleges that the accused, between May 23 and 27, 2024, exploited their position of power or vulnerability to recruit, receive, transport, or harbour a 16-year-old girl (name withheld) for sexual exploitation, using fraudulent means or abuse of authority, in locations spanning Acacia Avenue, Tagore Apartments along Mawanda Road in Kampala, and Kito Zone in Kira Municipality, Wakiso district. Nduhukire is further accused of engaging in sexual activities with the 16-year-old girl during the same period (May 23-27, 2024) and at the same locations. According to prosecution, Ateete allegedly used Snapchat to befriend the victim and then connected her to the socialite. Court documents show that Nduhukire is a resident of Kito Zone, while Ateete is a resident of Bulindo in Kira division, Wakiso.

Who is Nduhukire
Born in Ishaka Town, Bushenyi district, The socialite is known to splash money to revelers in Kampala. However, his source of income is unknown. At one time, he chattered a plane from Kampala to Bushenyi, with his friend, Meddie Ssentongo just to have lunch on Idd. He tried to contest for MP seat, Ishaka Bushenyi Municipality but pulled out for unclear reasons.
On December 3, 2018, Nduhukire was charged with obtaining money by false pretense before being remanded to Kigo Prison.
It is alleged that Nduhukire conned Johnny Hill, a 56-year-old American national, of $700,000 (sh2.5b) in a gold scam. However, Nduhukire’s lawyer (Kagoro), said his client won the case before Entebbe Chief Magistrate’s court.
