ENTEBBE
The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU), working jointly with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), has arraigned two suspects before the Entebbe Chief Magistrate's Court over an alleged land fraud scheme that reportedly defrauded a buyer of Shs80 million.
The suspects, Mugisha Junior Bukanura Agaba and Akora Naume, appeared before court on charges of obtaining money by false pretences, forgery, uttering false documents, and personation.
According to SH-ACU, investigations established that on October 14, 2025, the two suspects, together with others still at large, allegedly orchestrated a fraudulent land transaction involving land comprised in Busiro Block 436, Plot 374 at Nalugala.
Investigators allege that the suspects falsely presented themselves as the registered proprietors of the land and forged National Identity Cards bearing the names and National Identification Numbers (NINs) of the genuine owners, Ahimbisibwe Allan and Nassamula Harriet, but substituted the original photographs with their own.
The prosecution further alleges that the suspects executed a fraudulent sale agreement and convinced the unsuspecting buyer to pay Shs80 million for the property despite having neither ownership nor lawful authority to sell the land.
The alleged fraud was uncovered following investigations by SH-ACU in collaboration with CID and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The court remanded the two suspects to prison until July 15, 2026, when they are expected to reappear for further proceedings.
Authorities said investigations are ongoing to trace and apprehend other suspects believed to have participated in the alleged fraudulent scheme.
