This year’s edition comes with improved organization and more attractive prizes

The 5th edition of the Abarara Volleyball Club Independence Tournament has kicked off today, and is running through Sunday at St. Kizito Preparatory Seminary, Rwebishuri.
The championship, which brings together both clubs and institutions of learning in a volleyball bonanza, returns after a two-year break.

By Friday, more than 18 men’s and women’s club and institutional teams had confirmed participation in the two-day event. According to the organizers, registration remained open until early Saturday morning to allow for proper coordination.

Rev. Fr. Paul Kruger Byamugisha, the chief organizer of the event, said this year’s edition comes with improved organization and more attractive prizes. The winners in the men’s club category will walk away with UGX 500,000, while the runners-up will receive UGX 300,000. The women’s category winners will take home UGX 300,000, with the runners-up earning UGX 200,000. There will also be cash prizes for winners and runners-up in the institutions category, alongside trophies, medals, and individual accolades.
