A businessman based in Naguru, Kirenga Fred, has been remanded to Luzira Prison until July 8, 2025, after being arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court on charges of fraudulently procuring a Certificate of Title for land belonging to the Madhvani Group Ltd. Kirenga was produced in court yesterday, Thursday, July 3, following joint investigations by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and the Criminal Investigations Directorate.
Prosecution alleges that on June 15, 2020, in Gomba District, Kirenga and his co-accused fraudulently obtained registration of a freehold Certificate of Title for Block 311, Plots 36 and 37, despite knowing that the land was already titled under the Madhvani Group Ltd on FRV 60 Folio 4.
Kirenga is not alone in the dock. He joins a list of suspects facing related charges, including the Acting Commissioner of Surveys and Mapping, Kakooza Jasper, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Gomba District, Mugenyi Vicent, and nine others. They are accused of conspiring to fraudulently create multiple land titles on the same piece of land.
The case is part of a broader government crackdown on fraudulent land transactions, especially involving influential individuals in collusion with government officials. Kirenga will return to court on July 8 for further proceedings.
